Samsung Releases New 240Hz LED TVs

Samsung just released three new 240Hz LED TVs, the PAVV 8000, 7000 and 6000 series, for competing with LG’s 240Hz LH90 LED TVs. These series are compatible with YouTube, DLNA, and feature a USB 2.0 port to display both photos and DviX videos from USB flash drives. Coming in 46 and 55 inch, The PAVV 8000 series will be available in May in the US, Europe and Southeast Asia, while the PAVV 7000 and 6000 series will not be available for the time being.

Canton, Ohio Leads the Pack in Switch to Environmentally Friendly LED Lights

This week, the city of Canton in Ohio, U.S., and American Electric Power will launch an experimental program to switch high pressure sodium lights with LED lights in four “cobra head” street lights over Market Avenue near 40th Street. Two years ago, Canton replaced the sodium lights in the decorative lampposts along a one-mile stretch of Tuscarawas Street with LED lights. Five years ago, the city began switching traffic signals from incandescent bulbs to LED lights.
