RayVio Launches Mid-Power UV LEDs for New Health and Hygiene Solutions

RayVio, an advanced health and hygiene company, today announced that it has launched its XE Series of medium-power ultraviolet (UV) LEDs that are rated to 6 milliwatts (mW) of output from an ultra-compact 3535 package. With spectral output of both 280 and 310 nanometers, RayVio’s XE Series enables high volume consumer UV disinfection and phototherapy solutions.

The new XE Series makes its debut in Ellie, the world’s first portable UV LED baby bottle sanitizer that will launch November 17th on Indiegogo.

RayVio’s XE Series is the smallest commercially available UV LED and can be easily incorporated into a broad range of consumer products from toothbrushes and baby bottle sterilizers to humidifiers and refrigerators. Because of the XE Series’ output – more than 2 times that of similarly sized UV LEDs – battery life can be conserved and fewer emitters can be used in almost any solution.

Unlike traditional ultraviolet light sources that are bulky, fragile and contain mercury, RayVio’s XE Series is a compact, digital source that is safer than conventional sources and propels the transition from analog light to digital lighting applications that allow for connectivity, efficiency and mobility.

The emitter version of the XE Series is a surface mount device that can be assembled using industry standard pick and place equipment. The Star Board option consists of an emitter mounted on to a metal core PCB that simplifies prototyping and offers higher thermal capabilities.

UV light with a wavelength of 280 nanometers from RayVio’s XE Series protects against germs in water, air and on surfaces. At 310 nanometers, UV light from the XE Series can aid in treating skin diseases including psoriasis, eczema, rickets and jaundice.

RayVio’s ultraviolet LED portfolio consists of the XE Series and the XP Series. The XP Series is the industry’s most powerful ultraviolet LED in a standard 6565 package that can also be mounted on a Star Board. The XP Series is intended for applications that require higher outputs up to 60mW per emitter.
