Osram Appoints New CFO for Americas Region

Osram, a leading global lighting and technology company, has appointed Michael Flieger, 42, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Americas region. Flieger succeeds Grant Wright, who was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Osram’s Americas region in July 2015, and for the past year has maintained a dual role as CEO and CFO. Flieger will be responsible for the financial oversight and governance of Osram’s business operations in the Americas region.

“Michael brings with him extensive experience both in the financial sector, and across the different global Osram businesses,” Wright said. “We are confident that his knowledge and commitment to the organization will be a tremendous asset to the Americas region as we reposition ourselves for our future as the leading technology company in the lighting sector.”

Over the past 14 years Flieger has held numerous leadership roles at Osram, including positions as financial director and president of Osram’s business in Indonesia; and most recently as the global company’s first Head of Corporate Audit at Osram’s world headquarters in Munich, Germany.

“This is an exciting time for Osram in the Americas region,” Flieger said. “The carve-out of our general lighting lamps business is providing us with a great deal of opportunity to develop new and improve existing technologies, and to demonstrate our commitment to the Boston area and to the U.S. as a leading technology company. I am looking forward to working closely with the team here in the U.S. headquarters as we shift our focus from general lighting to innovative lighting technology.”

Flieger, a native of Germany, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration at the University of Wuerzburg, Germany and the European Business Management School in Wales.

Flieger recently relocated to the Boston area, where he lives with his wife and young daughter.
