Industry Sees Promising Future for Smart Lighting & Residential Lighting

With the advent of IoT, governments have been keen to promote smart city development, including smart lighting. That has brought new opportunities to the LED industry. The Smart Lighting & Solution zone, launched last year, returned to highlight the latest trends and showcase how smart lighting systems, remote control, accessories and fixtures are employed in our everyday lives.

A survey done by HKTDC Research in 2017 suggests that 29% of the respondents considered home lighting to have the most significant growth in 2018. 55% of the industry professionals also thought that the residential lighting sector will see the largest scale of LED replacements. Regarding future lighting trends, the majority of the respondents (93%) agreed that smart lighting will bring positive development results to the lighting industry in the next two years.

According to LEDinside, residential lighting accounted for 23% of the global smart lighting market in 2017, and the share will rise to 31% in 2020. LEDinside believes that smart home and smart lighting will promote and facilitate each other, so smart lighting in residential fields will have the fastest growth in the next few years.

Diversify for More Business Opportunities

The Hall of Aurora featured over 200 top-notch brands to showcase their high-quality lighting fixtures and solutions. Leading brands taking part in the zone included Tuya Smart, TCL and MLS Co, and SKY-LIGHTING.

To maximize the trading efficiency at the fair, HKTDC reorganized the display area. With the existing zones, it added Residential Lighting, Technical Lighting, and Urban & Architectural Lighting zones, enabling buyers to find desired components or fixtures much more easily.

In addition, the new horticultural lighting zone also demonstrated garden lighting fixtures as well as LED grow lights catering to a myriad of plants for both professional and domestic plant growers.
