Environmentally friendly LED bulbs are being installed in traffic lights at the city's 605 intersections. They won't save commuters time during rush hour, but officials say the upgrade will save the city about $325,000 a year. A new study has shown that a coating of carefully tuned nanocrystals helps make LED light warmer and less clinical.
