The new LED-based BeoVision 10 from Bang & Olufsen is a slim, fully integrated TV solution with a classic Bang & Olufsen identity developed specifically for wall placement.  

Lite-On Technology and Everlight Electronics, two of the major LED providers based in Taiwan, are reportedly to be supplying SMD LEDs to Korea’s Samsung and LG from the fourth quarter this year. The two companies will supply LEDs mainly for backlights of 46/47- and 52/55-inch TVs to the two Korean TV makers, according to the report.

Scarlet Knights fans this season are being treated to a state-of-the-art, high definition video display at Rutgers Stadium. Daktronics Inc. recently installed the new HD video display at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. 

Rutgers is currently in the midst of a $102 million expansion of the stadium to increase its seating capacity to 56,000. The LED displays are part of that expansion. Last season, three Daktronics ribbon displays were installed along the fascia of the stadium.

Philips and Acuity Brands, Inc. announced today that they have entered into a license agreement allowing Acuity Brands to access Philips’ LED-based patent portfolio. Cree Inc. Tuesday posted first-quarter earnings and revenue well above market expectations, and forecast strong second-quarter results. The LED lighting manufacturer reported net income of $21 million, or 23 cents per share, on $169.1 million in revenue for its fiscal 2010 first quarter, ended Sept. 27. That's up from net income of $5.9 million, or 7 cents per share, on $140.4 million in revenue in the same period a year ago.

Prof. Hwung-Hweng Hwung, the Senior Executive Vice President of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) - Taiwan, on behalf of NCKU, signed a joint venture agreement with a privately owned Taiwan Nitride Material Inc. led by its chairman Mr. H.H. Chang, for the production of aluminum nitride (AlN). Both parties agreed to invest a total of NT$ 30 million (US$ 932,000) for research and development of AlN, a semiconductor material widely used for heat radiation and insulation in microelectronics and optoelectronics.
