(SIPO) has dismissed every aspect of the claim, filed on November 2, 2016, by China’s Intematix Suzhou Lighting Co., Ltd.* 1 (Intematix Suzhou Lighting), requesting for the invalidation of the Chinese patent (No. ZL201110066517.7; “the patent”* 2 ) for red phosphor, a material used extensively in light-emitting diodes (LEDs), owned by MCC and NIMS. The board approved the validity of the patent, and MCC and NIMS received the written decision effective May 10. 

Tri-State LED, a division of Revolution Lighting Technologies, today announced it has recently completed an LED lighting retrofit for AERCO International, Inc., a leading manufacturer of commercial condensing boilers, high efficiency water heaters and energy recovery solutions. The retrofit occurred throughout the company’s corporate headquarters, including their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, located in Blauvelt, New York, retrofitting existing lighting that is expected to reduce the facility’s lighting energy use by more than 65%.

Lumileds announced the appointment of Steve Barlow as Senior Vice President (SVP) of its Illumination Business, effective May 22. Elemental LED, an engineering and technology-based manufacturer of LED lighting solutions, and The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) announced the relocation of Elemental LED’s U.S. manufacturing and R&D operations to Reno, Nevada. The company is moving its corporate headquarters into an adjacent property located in the South Meadows area of Reno and expects to be operational by end of the third quarter of this year. Elemental LED plans to hire up to 100 employees over the next two years.
