Outdoor Lighting Institute 2013 - Rensselaer (LRC),

The Lighting Research Center (LRC) is part of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. About Us We are the leading university-based research center devoted to lighting and offer the world's premier graduate education in lighting, including one- and two-year master's programs and a Ph.D. program. Since we began in 1988, we have built an international reputation as a reliable source for objective information about lighting technologies, applications, and products. We provide training programs for government agencies, utilities, contractors, lighting designers, and other lighting professionals.

At the LRC, we investigate lighting issues and educate the next generation of lighting leaders. Our programs cover a range of activities including both laboratory testing of lighting products and real-world demonstration and evaluation of lighting products and designs. We conduct research into energy efficiency, new products and technologies, lighting design, and human factors issues.

Our Mission
To advance the effective use of lighting and thereby to create a positive legacy for society and the environment

Our Role
We view the LRC as the nucleus for independent lighting research and education. We are the pre-eminent source of objective, timely information about lighting technologies and applications and about human response to light.

Our Values
We are committed to influencing lighting practice through multidisciplinary research and demonstrations; educating the future leaders in lighting; encouraging a view of lighting wherein economic gains are balanced with environmental sustainability; delivering high quality products in a timely manner; and providing a collaborative working environment for faculty, staff, and students.
