LiDAR Companies Continue Business Expansion: Lumibird Reports Revenue Growth and Cepton Sets up New UK Office

Fueled by the rising autonomous driving technology applications, LiDAR sensor manufacturers have reported business growth and expansion. The LUMIBIRD Group announced a robust revenue growth for 1Q19 while Cepton opened a new office in the UK to accelerate EMEIA business.

Paris-based laser specialist Lumibird posted a revenue of EUR 24.2 million (US$ 27.07 million) for the first quarter of 2019 with an on-year increase of 35.2%. The three strategic business lines of the company, LiDAR, Defense and Medical, are delivering strong growth in value. LiDAR sensors business went up by 93% YoY and its Defense / Space business by 111%, representing a strong growth.

The Group said this good start confirms its ambitious objectives for organic growth on its key market and set strategic targets for 2021, with revenues of EUR 150 million (US$ 167.80 million) and an EBITDA margin of over 20%.

Meanwhile, 3D LiDAR solutions provider Cepton Technologies announced that it has expanded its European presence with a new office at the iHub innovation and technology park in Derby, UK.

The UK office will manage and support customer programs deploying Cepton’s Micro Motion Technology (MMT™) LiDAR sensors for the transport, transport infrastructure and security industries to support Cepton’s customers and partners in the UK and mainland Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa. To underpin the company’s growing business and expansion plans, Cepton’s UK team will expand organically through the region over the next year to around a dozen technical solutions experts and engineers.

Neil Huntingdon, Cepton’s Vice President of Business Development, said, “The EMEIA region is a strategic market for Cepton with some of the world’s top companies and manufacturers in the transport, transport infrastructure and security industries.
