Delta Electronics Obtains Energy-Saving Street Light PFI for New Taipei City that Saves NTD$150 Million of Electricity Expenditure in 10 Years

Delta Electronics announced on the 19th that the company has obtained the phase 2 project of the energy-saving street light replacement and maintenance PFI (private finance initiative) for the 13 administrative districts in the north of New Taipei City, after having obtained phase 1 of the project in 2014. The project has commenced in October this year, and a total of approximately 110K street lights in the area will be replaced, which is expected to save roughly NTD$150 million of electricity expenditure for New Taipei City within 10 years. Among these, 8,500 units of street lights will be upgraded with network functions, where the advanced and diversified applications of the smart integrated poles are able to establish comprehensive infrastructures for a smart city.

Luo Yong-Chien, General Manger of Delta Building Automation Solutions, expressed that, “the product quality and the professional management ability of Delta Electronics have been recognized after completing the 6-year service for the previous phase, and the company will be providing services for New Taipei City for the next 10 years. After integrating with IoT devices and information & communication technology, these street lights are able to provide additional innovative value-added services other than street illumination, such as surveillance cameras, charging stations for electric vehicles, micro weather stations, signs, and interactive touch monitors, allowing street lights to become important information nodes within a smart city.“

Delta Electronics will be replacing approximately 110K units of depleted lighting in batches, which is expected to save roughly NTD$150 million of electricity expenditure for New Taipei City, of which 8,500 units of street lights situated at sections that are difficult in reporting lighting failures will be upgraded to smart street lights with network functions, which can be connected to the instantaneous management system of the city government for improvement of the maintenance efficiency in street lights. Underpasses that are often flooded during rainy seasons are installed with hydrological detection systems for instant reports on road status that will help with the dispatch of smart transportation. In addition, certain designated sections have also been reserved with smart pole designs that can be expanded with IoT devices, which will accelerate the establishment for the extended applications of a smart city in the near future.

Delta Electronics has been developing smart LED street light solutions since 2010, and had obtained the largest PFI project in Taiwan during 2014, which comprised of the energy-saving street light replacement and maintenance for New Taipei City that managed to save a total of 1.11 million kWh of electricity within 6 years.

In addition to New Taipei City, Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Taichung City, Tainan City, and Kaohsiung City, Delta Electronics has also provided LED energy-saving street light solutions in countries like Australia, the UK, the Netherlands, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, with an accumulation of over 800K LED street lights in the world. Apart from LED lightings that are excellent in energy saving and quality, the company has also aggregated substantial degree of experience in the implementation of indicative projects, which makes it a reliable partner for the construction of infrastructures in smart cities.
