Stanley Electric is a Japanese automotive LED and UV/IR LED company, whose high-power Deep UV LEDs have attracted a great deal of attention, especially in the field of public health and disinfection. The exclusive AlN-based UV-C LED allows Stanley to engage in extremely high-power UV LED technologies and applications. With a production range from semiconductor substrate, chips, UV LED packages, UV LED lighting source modules and UV LED water disinfection reactors, Stanley Electric is dedicated to providing full-services for water disinfection and sterilization markets.
LEDinside was very honored to have an exclusive interview with Yuko Mukade from Stanley Electric, to learn their new breakthrough on UV-C LED technology and market prospective of 2021.
Mukade noted that Stanley carries AlN-based UV LED, which has a linear power performance and allows high driving current and achieves high output power. Stanley has acquired HexaTech (a leader in the development of AlN), thus increasing its development speed and performance. Stanley 265nm UV-C LED has already achieved 50mW; the company is going to announce 200 mW UV-C LED in this spring and lead a superior position in the sterilization market (flowing water disinfection and air purification) in the near future. Also, unlike common UVC LEDs, Stanley’s hermetic sealing package completely shuts off the die from the influence of humidity. Mukade noted that the 265nm 200mW UV-C LED product has high reliability and the product lifetime is expected to achieve 10,000 hours. Thus, 200mW UV-C LED is suitable for flowing water disinfection.

Regarding the demand market prospective, Stanley believes that the next market trend is factory automations and automotive applications. Mukade indicated that inquiries on surface sterilization and air purification are increasing in 2021 from such applications. In this kind of markets, high output power and high reliability are required.
Stanley will continue to develop the higher optical power of UV-C LED products. Beyond UV-C LEDs for disinfection, Stanley also offers UV-A LED portfolio to provide solutions for air purification for its clients.
