Mackwell Health Announce Partnership With GE Current A Daintree Company

Mackwell Health is proud to announce a partnership with GE Current, a Daintree company to collaborate in the field of LED UV disinfection technology. The partnership will extend Current’s ground-breaking 365DisInFx™ UV Technology to the European, Middle Eastern and Australia/New Zealand markets.

The 365DisInFx™ UV technology leverages LEDs to help reduce the potential spread of certain common infection-causing pathogens. This allows for continuous disinfection in spaces while occupants are present.

Mackwell Health is a new division of the Mackwell Group of companies, a market leader with a 42-year track record in the manufacture and supply of safety-critical lighting systems to global markets. 365DisInFx™ UV technology complements Mackwell Health’s existing portfolio of UV disinfection solutions, such as the ProtectivAIR® UV respirator and Whitebox Smart UV-C disinfection chambers for the healthcare industry.  For further information on Mackwell Health, please visit www.mackwellhealth.com.

Mackwell Health is also a leader in European regulatory standards for UV germicidal systems, and a key element of the partnership will use this expertise to ensure that 365DisInFx™ UV technology can be applied correctly in these new markets according to the correct local standards. In addition, Mackwell Health will work with its customer base to identify further embodiments of the 365DisInFx™ UV technology that are suitable for the European, Middle Eastern and Australia/New Zealand markets, and develop and manufacture products accordingly.

"We are delighted to announce this partnership with GE Current, a Daintree company," said Nick Brangwin, CEO of Mackwell Group. "It was clear as soon as we began discussions that our two companies share a common philosophy, which is to exploit the vast potential of UV technology, but in a responsible way, backed by science and with a comprehensive body of evidence. Our partnership will allow many more people across the world to be kept much safer from infectious disease.”

The 365DisInFx™ UVC solutions can help reduce viruses in air. Current’s latest testing with SARS-CoV-2 resulted in 90% inactivation of the aerosolized virus within 2 hours. The test was conducted in an 36m3 room equipped with twelve 365DisInFx™ LPU prototype devices, configured for 8-hour Permissible Exposure Time (PET) at head height. SARS-CoV-2 Isolate USA-CA1/2020 was used in this testing, and results are expected to be representative of other SARS-CoV-2 isolates or strains.

"We are excited to align with Mackwell Health to bring 365DisInFx™ technology to more customers across the globe. We continue to invest in technology and innovation and enable more partners to deliver products that are solving real world challenges,” said Manish Bhandari, CEO of GE Current, a Daintree company.

When considering the use of UV products, make an informed decision:
  • UV radiation can pose a risk of personal injury. Overexposure can result in damage to eyes and bare skin. To reduce risk of overexposure, equipment must be installed in accordance with manufacturer's application recommendations, including minimum ceiling height restrictions.
  • UV solutions are intended for common high traffic spaces and not recommended for dwellings or home use.
  • Installation of the devices should be performed by qualified professionals as detailed in Current's installation guide.
  • To allow for occupancy during use, Current products comply with IEC 62471 – Photobiological Safety of Lamps and Lamp Systems standards and American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH®) TLVs® guidelines when installed as directed. Mackwell Health will identify and publish the equivalent standards and develop similar guidance for applications in Europe, Middle East and Australia/New Zealand.
  • Current's UV products are meant to be used in conjunction with other protective measures like manual cleaning and the use of proper PPE. They are not a substitute for other measures.
  • Current products are not intended for use as a medical device.
  • If combining two or more UV solutions, whether from GE Current, a Daintree company and/or other manufacturers, please consult a trained product application representative to ensure the total irradiance (UV dose) does not exceed recommended human exposure limits. To the extent UV solutions are combined, it may impact inactivation rates.
