Venture Lighting Europe has supplied a purpose-made retrofit gear tray to help a Costco store in Birmingham, UK reduce its energy consumption and improve the lighting of its underground car park.

Reston Hospital Center, a leading acute-care and surgical facility in Reston, Virginia, U.S.., selected LED lighting by Cree to replace the outdated metal halide light fixtures in its parking garage. Cree’s industry-leading IG Series parking luminaires are already generating positive results, delivering better light quality for an improved user experience, including greater feelings of safety, security and comfort for patients, visitors and staff. Moreover, the hospital anticipates an 81 percent reduction in energy consumption and $60,455 in energy savings annually.

Access Fixtures is expanding its extensive product line to include LED amber garage lighters as part of its line-up of wildlife-friendly luminaires. Wildlife-friendly lighting minimizes light pollution in areas where excessive artificial lighting can harm ecosystems, especially coastal areas where sea turtles need a dark sky to migrate towards the ocean. Garage lighters in parking garages around waterfront locations can emit light through openings and contribute to light pollution. Power management company Eaton announced that its Cooper Lighting division’s McGraw-Edison Valet and Ventus light-emitting diode (LED) luminaires are replacing 6,050 existing parking garage fixtures at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) to improve efficiencies and optical lighting performance. The conversion will result in a 66 percent reduction in power consumption with an anticipated overall energy and maintenance savings of approximately US$1.2 million annually.
