RayVio, an advanced health and hygiene company, is delivering the industry's first 60mW UV LED in volume. The breakthrough performance from the company's XP Series is making the use of ultraviolet LEDs for critical medical and public health solutions a reality.

RayVio, an advanced health and hygiene company, today announced that it has launched its XE Series of medium-power ultraviolet (UV) LEDs that are rated to 6 milliwatts (mW) of output from an ultra-compact 3535 package. With spectral output of both 280 and 310 nanometers, RayVio’s XE Series enables high volume consumer UV disinfection and phototherapy solutions.

Bathing a patient in LED light may someday offer a new way to locate tumors, according to Rice University researchers.

A research article published 5 December describes a new light-based technology for measuring oxygen content in muscles while underwater, valuable information for competitive swimmers as well as patients using water-based therapies to recover from muscle injuries. Authored by researchers from the University of Essex and Artinis Medical Systems, the open-access paper appears in the current issue of the Journal of Biomedical Optics, published by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics.

Scientists from from Kings College London and UCL discovered in early April 20140 blue lights can restore muscles paralyzed by motor neuron disease and spinal cord  injury. A follow up report published recently by Wall Street Daily Editor-in-Chief Martin Denholm has confirmed the lights used in the study were actually blue LED lights.
