Sensing Elements Boost Wearable Devices and Automotive Applications

Automobile manufacturers have implemented optical sensors on vehicles and boosted the demands of sensors in recent years. Currently each vehicle is installed with four to five set sensing elements. It is forecasted that the number will keep growing and by 2020, every single vehicle might be installed with up to 10 sensing elements. Another major market for sensor applications is wearable devices. The market expansion of wearable devices will increase the needs of photodiode by four-fivefold.

Tyntek Pours a $42.7 Mil. Investment in New Sensor Plant

Taiwan-based LED chip manufacturer Tyntek Corporation expects positive outlook of sensors, so it plans to invest NTD 1.2~1.3 billion to build a new factory. The new plant is expected to enter mass production phase in second quarter of 2018. The design capacity of the first period is estimated to be 30,000 6-inch wafers per month.
