Canton, Ohio Leads the Pack in Switch to Environmentally Friendly LED Lights

This week, the city of Canton in Ohio, U.S., and American Electric Power will launch an experimental program to switch high pressure sodium lights with LED lights in four “cobra head” street lights over Market Avenue near 40th Street. Two years ago, Canton replaced the sodium lights in the decorative lampposts along a one-mile stretch of Tuscarawas Street with LED lights. Five years ago, the city began switching traffic signals from incandescent bulbs to LED lights.

Braemar Energy Ventures has invested in Nuventix Inc., a cooling systems company in Texas, according to the company. Braemar contributed $3 million of the $8 million total that closes out the Series C round for Nuventix. Another $1 million was from Uniquest of Korea and the remaining come from an agreement with Silicon Valley Bank that makes $4 million credit available to the company.
