New LED Flash Driver from Austria Micro System to Improves Picture Quality of Smart Phone Cameras

Austria Micro System(AMS), a leading provider of high performance analog ICs and sensors, yesterday launched an LED flash driver AS3630 that provides a photo flash light output at least four times brighter than flash systems commonly found in smart phones today. Comparing to today's LED flash drivers in cell phones generally providing a maximum 2A output, the new AS3630 can drive up to 8A current, enabling cell phone cameras to take pin-sharp images of objects even in dark or in fast move. National Semiconductor Introduces Industry's First High-side Dual LED Flash Driver

National Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: NSM) Monday introduced the industry's first high-side light-emitting diode (LED) driver that enables dual LED operation for the camera flash function in portable, battery-powered multimedia devices. The LM3554, a member of National's PowerWise(R) energy-efficient product family, drives one or two high-current LEDs for flash applications in handheld devices such as mobile phones, smartphones and portable scanners.
