Genesis Photonics Inc. (GPI), a subsidiary of the Chicony Group, recently announced at an investors’ conference that the company received big flip chips order from Samsung, and flip chips will account for 25% of the company’s 2015 overall revenue, according to an Economic Daily News report.

Will sapphire substrates be found on iPhone 7? Latest market rumors from Chinese media have pointed to the possible appearance of sapphire material on the new iPhone 7, which will be mostly supplied by Foxconn, according to a China Times report.

Apple’s Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partner Foxconn’s production capacity has tightened amid high global iPhone 6 sales. The company, however, intends to turn around its outsourcer image in the LED business, according to China-led.org report.

Taiwan citizens could soon see a jump in electricity costs as the country faces energy shortages. Anti-nuclear sentiment is gaining momentum in the country as construction for Taiwan’s controversial fourth nuclear power plants nears completion. 

After a six year wait, Foxconn subsidiary Advanced Optoelectronic Technology Inc. (AOT) application to be listed on the Taiwan stock market was finally approved recently. 

Apple OEM partner Foxconn’s Lunhua factory in Shenzhen has begun test assembly of sapphire substrate display cover iPhones, according to Chinese-language Apple Daily report. Foxconn has packaged 100 sapphire substrate display cover phones. Despite the small number assembled it is a huge development for Foxconn. Foxconn has declined to comment on individual client conditions.

Philips is said to be in talks with Foxconn in regards to OEM light bulb production with orders estimated to reach 10 million a year, according to a report by Apple Daily on the 26th. Foxconn declined to comment to the market rumor.

Foxconn announced its future smartphone business strategy plan will be focused on diversifying its products to avoid “solely munching on Apple,” according to high ranking company official Chen Hui Long at the Zhengzhou factory’s third anniversary celebration.  Foxconn is extending its product range in its “eight monitor” plan to include smartphones, tablets, notebooks, all-in-one computers, portable TV, smart TV, electronic billboards, and large outdoor LED displays, said Chen. 

Taiwan –based Foxconn is reported to make a plan to invest in 19 new projects in Central China's Henan province, including factories that will produce camera lenses and LED lighting rigs, as well as more branches of Foxconn's retail chain Cybermart. Terry Guo, chairman of the Foxconn Technology Group, said during an economic forum held in Taipei, "We are going to fully expand our investment in Henan, using Zhengzhou (the provincial capital) as the base." However, Guo did not reveal the total amount of investments for these projects....

The LCD monitor market in China in 2010 was expected to reach 30 million, and LED-backlit models were expected to account for 25% of the market at the end of 2010 due to strong demand. Chimei was reported that it emphasized to develop the China market and aimed for revenues from overseas markets to reach 30% of total revenues in 2011, together with Foxconn Electronics’ channel retailers.

Foxconn International Holdings Ltd., a company in which Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. holds a controlling stake, will invest US$500 million to build a LED factory in Jinan, Shandong, according to Jinan government and a local newspaper.
