Exiting from cut-throat price competitions in the blue LED lighting segment, LED epitaxial wafer and chip manufacturer Arima Optoelectronics (Arima) has halted manufacturing of blue LED chips altogether and shifted to AlGaInP production, reported DIGITIMES.

Intense price competition in the blue LED market has urged Taiwanese manufacturers to transform their business models, among these include Arima Optoelectronics (Arima), which is one of the leading companies in the Greater China region to give up blue (InGaN) LEDs, reported UDN.

Through the efforts in the second half of 2013, Arima Optoelectronics successfully launched super-bright red and yellow silicon-substrated dice. This series of LED dice used unique “laser-cutting on silicon substrate” patents owned by Arima Optoelectronics. This year, Arima Optoelectronics has further breakthrough on Arima-exclusive MOLY (MOLYBDENUM) substrated LED 

 A few days ago, LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Arima Optoelectronics planed to establish LED Mark Bray silicon wafer factory in the name of Arima Optoelectronics Jiangsu in Wujiang ,and Arima Opto owed a wholly shareholding with US$30 million investment. In order to expand blue light LED productivity, the company also had set another new factory in Changzhi city. Now the factory has been built, which are expected to import 15 MOCVD before the end of 2010, reaching 30 MOCVD in 2011.
