Third tier manufacturers sell products, second class companies build brands, but leading companies set standards. Recently, NVC Lighting became the pioneer in China’s LED industry with the sales of 200,000 LED products with Advanced Union Technology Standard (ANT’S) labelling, according to Guangdong Solid State Lighting Industry Innovation Center (GSC).

Recently, California introduced a new standard for the energy efficiency of 100W incandescent lamps. A 100-watt bulb manufactured on or after January 1, 2011 must use 28% less energy in California states, with providing the same amount of light (in lumens). The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA) designed the law, which would reduce energy use and associated pollution and make the United States less dependent on foreign sources of energy. Also, the law would save California consumers money.

On December 1,  China new flat-panel TV energy efficiency standards was carried out, which contained three level standards: level one for most efficient products; level two for products that meet the lowest requirements for being labeled energy-efficiency products; and level three for products meeting the minimum requirements for being allowed on the market. It’s estimated that would stimulate more price-cut promotion on products that did not meet the standard.
