LED lighting Replacement Programme

The Ministry of Power and Energy is preparing to do away with the use of kerosene oil, particularly in rural homes. The introduction of advanced solar powered white LED lighting products in the low income areas is expected to save the government Rs. 1.15 billion per annum. Nearly 150,000, would benefit from LED lighting products. Due to their sheer remoteness, About 40,000 households, in remote villages, are still dependent on kerosene for their lighting.
