Expert highlights need for proper street lighting

  MYSORE: Public lighting helps motorists, but improper illumination spells trouble to pedestrians, said J N Bhavani Prasad, retired chief engineer of CPWD (Bangalore), here on Friday. Bromley Council invests £8.5m in LED street lights

  AN £8.5M investment programme will see state of the art LED street lights springing up across Bromley over the next two years. Around half of the borough’s 27,000 street lamps will be replaced by lighting contractor May Gurney (Cartledge). The works will also include installing 8,000 new street lamp columns, replacing the oldest 50-year-old lamp columns in the borough. The LED lamps will be 50 per cent more efficient than existing bulbs which will mean savings in the £1.3m spent on electricity for the 27,000 street lights last financial year. ...
