Osram Adds New IRED to its Product Portfolio

The new Oslux SFH 4786S infrared LED (IRED) from Osram Opto Semiconductors enables iris recognition systems to be made less complex and with lower profiles. At 1.6 millimeters (mm) high, this new IRED is around one-third thinner than its predecessor. Its direction of emission is slightly angled so there is no need for the usual mechanical aids to ensure correct geometrical alignment.

Osram Introduces Mid-Power IR LED

Osram is launching the Oslon Black SFH 4713A, an infrared LED (IRED) with a wavelength of 850 nanometers (nm). It is ideally suited to security applications, such as camera-surveillance of public spaces, company premises and entrances to banks and shopping centers. While previous Oslon Black high-flux IREDs were designed for systems with a range of up to one hundred meters, the SFH 4713A supports efficient designs for near-range illumination from 10 to 50 meters.

Osram Releases New Infrared LED

Biometric identification methods are becoming increasingly popular. Biometric unlocking of cell phones and tablet computers is the principal application of the IR Oslux SFH 4780S, the first infrared emitter from Osram Opto Semiconductors with a wavelength of 810 nanometers (nm). With a height of only 2.4 mm this LED is setting new standards, achieving record radiant intensity values with a narrow emission angle from very small dimensions. This combination paves the way for compact energy-saving designs for reliable iris scanning functionality on mobile devices.

Efficient infrared light emitting diode (IRED) with wide beam angle - Osram Oslon black SFH 4716S with an 850 nanometer (nm) wavelength

High output in a compact package. The new infrared (IRED) Oslon black SFH 4716S from Osram Opto Semiconductors is one of the most powerful IREDs on the market with an optical output of 1030 milliwatts (mW). And with a beam angle of 150 degrees this IRED offers perfect illumination at a range of a few meters. It is therefore ideal for gesture detection systems linked to computer games or for optical safety systems in the automotive sector. But the infrared diode is capable of even more. With external optics and tight focusing even distant objects can be perfectly illuminated with infrared light.
