Positive that the general lighting industry will become a major growth momentum for the LED industry, Credit Suisse projected the LED lighting market penetration rate will reach 56 percent by 2016

As countries kick off incandescent bulb phase out policies, soaring LED lighting demands has attracted market attention. Credit Suisse latest report is optimistic that the LED industry will enter another expansion phase in 2014. In addition, LED stocks will also be on the rise this year. 

Leading Taiwanese LED company Lextar will be unable to avoid impact from 4Q13 low season, according to Credit Suisse reports. However, the company is expected to benefit from the rebounding LED industry in 2014. Lextar lighting revenue is expected to soar 40 percent as new clients join in and investments from old clients. With rising number of Chinese clients, the backlight market performance is expected to be better than average market performance.

Growing demands in the LED market were fueled by decreased product prices, government bans on incandescent light bulbs, and shift away from traditional lighting to more energy efficient LEDs. Financial service company Credit Suisse believes that from the current state of the industry, LED manufacturers have already begun moving in two different directions, with manufactures including Phillips Lumileds, OSRAM, CREE, Samsun LED, and Innotek mainly moving towards products and manufacturers such as Epistar, Lextar, and Seoul Semiconductors towards OEM
