Designed by world famous architects Foster + Partners, 200 Gray’s Inn Road was built for ITN in 1990 as its headquarters and broadcasting hub. UK technological engineers Asylum were approached with a private commission, requiring a domestic installation a pipe covered in crystals that lit up to decorate a construction feature within a room. A base structure was fabricated for fitting the electronics onto. The RGB LED modules were made up of three individual colored lights and could give a range of over 16 million colors.

The Board of Directors of Rancho Santiago Community College District unanimously approved the use of Redbird LED for their interior LED lighting retrofit project with the use of Prop 39 funding.  The conversion to LED lighting will save the district over US $2 million throughout the life of the product.  In addition, Southern California Edison (SCE) will provide the district over US $300,000 in rebates. The project was completed on August 1, 2014.

UNStudio’s design for the Hanwha’s headquarter building incorporates the renovation and remodeling of the facade, the interior of the common spaces, lobbies, meeting levels, auditorium and executive areas, along with the redesign of the landscaping. LG Chem and Ab Rogers Design have collaborated on a project to apply OLED light to an architectural installation, the OLED Tree Bar. The design was installed at May Design Series furnishing fair which was held May 18–20 this year. Along with LG Chem, Ab Rogers has been seeking to create applications only possible with OLEDs. The result of the endeavor was blooming petals of thin OLED light panels that illuminated the bar area built for the exhibition. LG Chem`s circular type OLED light panels (N6OA30) were used for the project. 

In this latest lighting project entry by Adam Burton, Social Media Manager, Zumtobel Lighting introduces a new lighting display that “dances” to music beats. Famed Korean artist Sung Wan Kim uses his installation "I will dress you, howl bowel owl" to play with the mediums of light and sound. In collaboration with the musician David Michael DiGregorio (aka dogr), Sung Wan Kim has composed an audio piece using the works of poets such as Rainer Maria Rilke as a source of inspiration. A key component of the project - the lighting - was realized in cooperation with Zumtobel.

A new 90m long pedestrian tunnel with LED integrated art-wall will open at King’s Cross at the end of June. This majestic, historic building now houses Restoration Hardware’s Flagship Store. After sitting empty for years, façades and roofs were restored and a vibrant, new use of the building’s interior was realized. Now a retail establishment, treatment as a monument, true color and daytime concealment were critical requirements. All façade lighting fixtures are completely concealed, evoking the desired “light from nowhere” look. Though 95 percent of this lighting is LED, multiple high-CRI source types are employed to accommodate the building and owner’s varied finishes, colors and proportions.

Featuring a unique kinetic panel façade which follows the sun’s daytime movements, the scheme utilises 132 specially customised Pulsar ChromaStrip X3 linear LED fixtures to illuminate each panel and meet the stringent technical requirements of the project tender.
