Acuity Brands Illuminates New LEED Certified Atlanta Airport International Terminal

Acuity Brands Indoor and Outdoor Luminaires and Controls Installed Throughout $1.4 Billion Construction Project More than 14,000 indoor and outdoor lighting luminaires from Acuity Brands, Inc. have been illuminating the new Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport since July, 2012. The terminal, which is certified Silver under the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard, includes a comprehensive array of Acuity Brands lighting and digital controls solutions designed to enhance the terminal user's experience by delivering quality, energy-efficient lighting. Multiple lighting products were installed in nearly every application throughout the 1.2 million square-foot facility. Osram lights up Baku's new landmark

More than 10,000 high-power LED luminaires from the Osram subsidiary Traxon Technologies have transformed Baku's new landmark, the three Flame Towers, into gigantic display screens. Inspired by the Flame Towers, the slogan of the 57th Eurovision Song Contest in the capital of Azerbaijan was "Light your Fire!" The European Broadcasting Union, which mounted the song contest, was also relying on the know-how of Osram: using special solutions, the company will be providing spectacular lighting effects. "With our lighting expertise, we are making a very prominent mark in the Middle East," explained Erol Kirilmaz, Head of Region Latin America, the Middle East and Africa at Osram.

The monumental facade and inner courtyard of Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam  is now lit by new, custom-designed LED lighting from Royal Philips Electronics. The outdoor lighting accentuates the characteristic features of the historic building. The premises where a luxury hotel locates in can be traced back to the 15th century, and in the past the building had served as Amsterdam's town hall and a monastery. Following the switch-over to Philips LED lighting for the indoor lighting inside the luxury hotel several years ago, the exterior part of The Grand is now also being illuminated by LED lighting. The purpose of lighting up the inner courtyard is to highlight the aesthetic features of this impressive building. The new LED outdoor lighting offers a seamless solution.

LEDinside: Inventory Replenishment of LED TV Brand Plants Stimulates the Backlight Demand; Revenue of Taiwan LED Makers Bottomed out in January

According to the analysis and statistics of LEDinside, a research division under TrendForce, the total revenues of listed Taiwan LED manufacturers was up to NTD 8.09 billion in January 2011(MoM-2.04%,YoY+15.9%). Regarding upstream chip manufacturers, these figures reached NTD 3.77 billion in January 2011, (MoM-0.7%; YoY+20.7%). The Chip LEDX moved back at 4,472 points, while Package LEDX rose to 5,001 points, showing a moderate uptrend.

LEDinside: demand recovery not in sight; pressure of 2010 Q4 LED price decline expected to extend till 2011 Q1

According to the latest price survey by LEDinside, an LED research division of TrendForce, in 2010 Q4, demand from LED applications still has not recovered, including continued inventory adjustment of large-size panels and lower-than-expected demand from general lighting. As a result, pressure of LED price decline extends from 2010 Q3. Among them, price of LED for large-size panel applications fell by 5% -9%, with most substantial decline in TV backlight applications; high power LED lighting applications declined by more than 12%. Due to relatively stable demand from mobile phone applications, LED prices in this segment are fairly stable with a mere 3% seasonally adjusted decrease.
