The Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA in New York, U.S. was founded in 1888 to cater to a then fast-growing community. It has since steadily expanded into today's 5,388 square meters (65,000 square-foot) facility.  Situated in the lower level, the space receives minimal natural daylight and thus requires a significant amount of artificial lighting power.
