Acuity Brands Illuminates New LEED Certified Atlanta Airport International Terminal

Acuity Brands Indoor and Outdoor Luminaires and Controls Installed Throughout $1.4 Billion Construction Project More than 14,000 indoor and outdoor lighting luminaires from Acuity Brands, Inc. have been illuminating the new Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport since July, 2012. The terminal, which is certified Silver under the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard, includes a comprehensive array of Acuity Brands lighting and digital controls solutions designed to enhance the terminal user's experience by delivering quality, energy-efficient lighting. Multiple lighting products were installed in nearly every application throughout the 1.2 million square-foot facility. A blend of custom and standard lighting solutions were also employed to highlight the building's signature architecture and deliver required light levels throughout the terminal space, while addressing multiple energy-usage challenges.

Lextar and Epistar Restart Expansion Plans Due to Rising LED Lighting Demand

The oversupply of LED die still exists; however, the demand for LED lighting fixture is expected to achieve explosive growth in next year under the great support of lighting equipment factories in the mainland China, highly anticipated next year. Taiwan-based Lextar has officially completed one-stop production line in its mainland-based plant, Epistar also restarts its expansion plan. Epistar and Lextar are expected to start new LED epitaxy production capacity in the fourth quarter of this year, and volume shipments will be conducted in the first quarter next year.

Epistar expands InGaN LED die production capacity by spending NT$1B in Taiwanese subsidiary

Epistar’s board recently approved a NT$1 billion (US$33.43 million) capital investment plan in a wholly owned Taiwanese subsidiary company that was originally a factory of Huga Optotech, according to Epistar. To meet client demands, some orders will be commissioned to the subsidiary’s factories based in Central Taiwan Science Park. The subsidiary will be mostly manufacturing InGaN LED dies in the future, with productions estimated to begin during first quarter of 2014.

More than 10,000 high-power LED luminaires from the Osram subsidiary Traxon Technologies have transformed Baku's new landmark, the three Flame Towers, into gigantic display screens. Inspired by the Flame Towers, the slogan of the 57th Eurovision Song Contest in the capital of Azerbaijan was "Light your Fire!" Genesis Photonics Lighting Transformation Generates Record High Revenues in July

Taiwanese LED chip manufacturer Genesis Photonics Inc. (GPI) announced record high revenues in July of NT$ 368 million (US$ 12.32 million), as lighting products revenue ratio jumped to 50%.
