Vestal’s first proposed law of 2010 limits on LED signs

In Vestal, a part of New York's the Greater Binghamton area, the 2009 town board discussed the issue at length, creating a law that would put strict regulations on the use of LED signs. A public hearing on the proposed law will take place at the regularly scheduled town board meeting.Several area businesses have requested a variance to use LED signs. Only one -- Horizons Federal Credit Union at Campus Plaza -- has one. Tyrell Auto Sales, 2102 Vestal Parkway W., has requested authorization to install an electronic sign.

The global consumption value of HB-LEDs in 2009 was nearly $4.9 billion. The consumption value is forecasted to increase to $15.03 billion in 2015.
