In accordance with statistics in Gold membership reports of LEDinside, Green Energy Division of the Global market research firm TrendForce, thanks to strong demand in the global LED lighting market in the first half of this year, the utilization rate of MOCVD machines that the major chip manufacturers have installed and debugged shows rising trend. The chip price has been stable this year, but with the increasing capacity of chip manufacturers, it remains to be seen whether the LED chip price will be falling in the second half of this year, but in the long term, only the quit of invalid production capacity in China can help LED industry to return to supply and demand balance.

The quality, efficiency, and yield of epitaxial wafers may affect the cost and output of the LED epitaxial wafer plant. Veeco’s MaxBright MHP, the new GaN MOCVD Multi-Reactor System, is considered a highly efficient device. Compared with the original MaxBright, the MaxBright MHP showed a 20% improvement of the LED chip wavelength uniformity. Thermal management and process compatibility are also improved so that each reaction process will improve the uniformity. The company has greatly enhanced the yield of 2-inch and 4-inch wafers by using the FlowFlange technology, thus they received the MOCVD with the Best Yield award.

(VPE) has announced the commercial release of the VPE GaN-500 MOCVD system, a new metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) system for production of high-brightness light emitting diodes (LEDs). The VPE system includes a reactor that is designed around a novel (patent pending) chamber and gas-injector, resulting in the highly efficient use of pre-cursor gases.
