FPD equipment maker Mirle Automation and LED driver IC designer Macroblock had jointly developed an LED display control system—— Mirle 503. Mirle noted the Mirle 503 had a built-in Macroblock MBI5042 16-channel constant current LED driver with 16-bit PWM (pulse width modulation) control. With the MBI5042, all output channels could be built with 16-bit color depth (65,536 gray scales).

Rakuten Baseball Incorporated announced today it has completed installation of a Mitsubishi Electric Corporation Diamond Vision large-scale display system at Kleenex Stadium Miyagi above the stands between right and center fields. The Diamond Vision screen, which measures 20.6 meters by 16.3 meters with a total surface area of 336.8 square meters, is the largest outdoor screen among baseball stadiums in Japan.

British Telecommunications plc (BT)  has installed a giant electronic information band at the top of the iconic BT Tower in London. The 360 degree LED array – which is believed to be the highest of its kind in Europe and the Americas – will be switched on for the first time this evening with a pyrotechnic display and a message to celebrate 1000 days to go to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Rutgers is currently in the midst of a $102 million expansion of the stadium to increase its seating capacity to 56,000. The LED displays are part of that expansion. Last season, three Daktronics ribbon displays were installed along the fascia of the stadium.

Barco has just announced that it has signed a deal in Abu Dhabi for the delivery of 14 LED displays for the new Yas Marina Circuit. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has recently announced two new 128 x 32 LED graphics displays with drive electronics and a + 5-V HC CMOS-level video interface. BenQ last week launched its new 24” and 21.5” LED widescreen displays, namely the Full HD 1080p V2400 Eco and Full HD 1080p V2200 Eco. These first two models will prelude what BenQ promises to be a broad-spectrum offering of LED displays to be launched by mid-August, according to the company.
