With increased demand for LED lighting this year, large global lighting manufacturers have been strategizing their next move in the LED lighting market. The Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA), a wholesale power supplier, was awarded a recent U.S. Department of Energy grant to fund the retrofitting of outdoor street lights in member communities with light emitting plasma and LED street lighting fixtures. Walmart today announced the launch of a Great Value line of LED lightbulbs for less than $10 in all of its U.S. stores, with the goal of making LED lightbulbs more accessible and affordable for consumers. The new line will be available exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and Walmart.com. Earlier this year, the glamorous Westin Lima Hotel in Peru decided to renew its lighting system by adopting new LED lighting from GE Lighting.
