Bentleyville’s Only Steel Fabricated Christmas Tree with LED Lights

Bentleyville is building what will become the only steel fabricated Christmas tree in the United States standing over 120 feet tall. And rolls of LED lights will be wrapped around the tree as crews finished each section. The 50,000 LED lights are expected to use 37 amps of power. It’s said that over 200,000 people attended the Bentleyville Tour of Lights in 2009, and this year, crews are expecting the tree will draw an even bigger turnout.

Benicia Acquired $146,000 from DOE for LED Street Lights Replacement

Benicia has acquired $146,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program to retrofit 160 streetlights with LED and induction technology fixtures. The new lights will be installed on First Street and Military West between First and West 13th streets. The project is expected to be completed in 2011 spring, following a bidding process to award a construction contract.

LED Light Energy Acquired $250,000 REFRESH Awards

Reportly, the PEPSI REFRESH PROJECT has chose LED Light Energy of Chicago as a candidate for one of its $250,000 REFRESH awards. The LED Light Energy project will relamp the Chicago Navy Pier, the largest tourist attraction in the mid-west with LEDs. So far, Navy Pier has over 4,000 incandescent bulbs, 50 metal halide streetlights and more than 1000 halogen PAR lamps.

Dow Electronic Materials Sets up Korea-based Plant to Produce TMG for LED Market

Dow Electronic Materials, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company has begun to set up a new metalorganic precursor manufacturing plant in Cheonan, Korea, as a part of a multi-phase plan announced in June 2010 to expand TrimethylGallium (TMG) production capacity to meet the surging global demand for the material in the LED and related electronics markets. It is expected to be operational in early 2011.And benefiting from the multi-phase plan, total additional capacity is expected to be 60 metric tons per year.
