NeoPac Opto, Inc. a Taiwan based technology-driven LEDs lighting company recently announced its newly developed technology on 8 inches silicon-based wafer level package (WLP) for LEDs illumination, which is derived from its patented NeoPac Universal Platform (NUP) and LEDs Standard Light Sources.

ZMD AG has introduced ZLED7012 and ZLED7022, the second wave of its ZLED family of LED control solutions, featuring two low-voltage ICs available for battery-powered handheld devices. Taiwan LED manufacturer Epistar has designed a High-Voltage (HV) chip that enables the cold white LED to reach 162 lm/W. The new HV-LED features less power consumption and higher wall plug efficiency because of its robust new high voltage chip design. SavWatt USA, Inc. has developed a partnership with the City of Baltimore, and it will receive grant funds from the Maryland Energy Sector Grant to take LEED certification classes. Reportedly, Taiwan LED maker Delta Electronics intends to tap into the domestic market with its own brand LED bulbs by the end of 2010. As soon as its products are available for sales, Delta will become Taiwan`s first LED-lighting manufacturer to sell own-brand LED light bulbs on the island. The opening and closing ceremonies of the Guangzhou Asian Games will be held in a newly constructed half-stadium in Haixinsha Square. Recently, Lighting manufacturer Philips and LED lamp maker Lemnis Lighting signed a license agreement. On the basis of the agreement, Lemnis would join Philips licensing program for LED-based luminaries and retrofit bulbs. And Philips would obtain access to the LED-lamp architecture and control patents of Lemnis.

Recently, a leader of High-power LED packaging house Edison Opto thought LED lighting would grow up quickly in 2011 and the company revenues would reach NT$10 billion (US$331.54 million) in 2012 with the expanding capacity.

NXP Semiconductors N.V. has promoted two collections of automotive LED driver ICs ASL1010NTK and ASL1010PHN, designed for vehicle LED headlights and tail lights. According to NXP, automotive LEDs have used complex, relatively expensive driver ICs made for generic Solid State Lighting applications that lack many of the critical functions needed for automotive applications.

In a bid to better serve South Korean OLED display and lighting manufacturers , New Jersey based company Universal Display Corporation is setting up a South Korean subsidiary as well as expanding into 'green' markets. 

A materials development innovator Intematix, specializes in patented phosphors for high-quality and high-performance LED applications, has introduced green aluminate and red nitride materials that enable high-quality white illumination when applied to blue LEDs to their product line. It’s considered as the broadest portfolio of LED phosphors in the market worldwide.

Lumiotec announced that they will begin mass production of OLED Lighting panels in January 2011. The production capacity will be around 60,000 panels a year, and the company will offer panels in five different shapes (two squares and three rectangular) and in two different colors: lamp (3000K) and natural white (5000K). Selling 60,000 panels a year means that most of these will go into commercial lamps, and not just 'sample designs'.

America Tampa, Florida based LED lighting maker LEDnovation has recently launched a line of MR16 lamps for use in standard low voltage lighting applications and previously brought to market A19 or "Edison" type LED replacement lamps optimized for use in downlights and other semi-enclosed directional fixtures.   The new lamp has been both electronically and optically optimized to eliminate the scalloping, rings and other optical variations that are often seen in traditional reflector lamps.
