China-based company Tongfang has ordered two AIX 2800G4 HT 42x2-inch configuration deposition systems from AIXTRON. It's reported that Tongfang has placed the order during Q1 of 2010 and after delivery in Q3 of 2010, they will be used for GaN ultra-high brightness blue LED production. The local AIXTRON support team will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of the new reactors at the dedicated Tongfang production plant.

Malaysian SMT LED manufacturer DOMINANT has designed RGB SPNovaLED (NMRTB-WSG) of its SPNovaLED series, to replace the NMRTB-USD device. The RGB SPNovaLED is capable of driving each chip in the package individually to mix and match any requested color even white; to provide balanced lighting distribution. Additionally, with an operating current of 250mA this LED features a typical luminous intensity of 9000mcd for Red, 12,000mcd for True Green and 4000mcd for Blue.

Power supply maker FSP Technology September revenues went up NT$1.553 billion (US$50.525 million), making its 3Q revenues to NT$4.482 billion to set a new quarterly record. And the strong results would keep conservative about the current quarter since most orders have been received in short term. FSP had an extensive portfolio ranging from applications in desktops, notebooks, industrial PCs, servers, LCD TV and monitors, STBs, health care, communications and LED lighting.

Backlight unit (BLU) Radiant Opto Electronics September revenues has been up 23.93% from 2009 to NT$4.248 billion (US$136.86 million) for 2010, and the first three quarters in 2010 revenues totaled NT$12.607 billion, up 3% sequentially.

A multi-topology LED driver ZXLD1374 has designed by Diodes Incorporated , to increase the performance of high brightness automotive, industrial and commercial lighting systems.   With the integrated 60V power MOSFET switch, the ZXLD1374 LED driver can produce a maximum LED current of 1.5A.

Thanks to amid vendors actively replenishing inventory and launching promotions ahead of schedule to boost market demand, Amtran Technology reported September revenues had been up 22.2% sequentially to NT$5.53 billion (US$180.06 million) and 4.1% compared for 2009.Revenues for 3Q had totaled NT$15.2 billion, up about 5% sequentially. Home Depot schedules to sell a Philips LED bulb which now called the 12-watt EnduraLED, to replace the common 60-watt incandescent.   According to representatives from Philips and Home Depot , the bulb will be available by the beginning of December and will cost between $40 and $50.  

It's reported that a new 4000K CCT ANSI binned part has been added to LUXEON Rebel product portfolio by Philips Lumileds. At the same time, Philips Lumileds has also raised the top flux bin for its cool and neutral white LUXEON Rebel by 20%.   The new part delivers improved color rendering and tight binning to simplify luminaire designers' engineering efforts.

AIXTRON AG announced an order from ETH Zurich for a Black Magic Plasma Enhanced CVD system to be installed at the Nanotechnology Center in Ruschlikon, Switzerland. The Nanotechnology Center is a unique, public private partnership between IBM Research and ETH Zurich. The new system, used for single wall carbon nanotube deposition, is 6-inch in configuration and will be commissioned by the local AIXTRON support team in the first quarter of 2011.

Valeo is fitting full-LED headlights on the ZB10 RENAULT and SEAT IBE concept cars exclusively presented at the Paris Motor Show. With their low energy consumption, equivalent to 85% of traditional headlamps, LEDs are perfect for electric vehicles because they increase their range, and they reduce fuel consumption by around 0.2 litres per 100 km for internal combustion engine vehicles.

It is one of their programs to ensure further security and environment in society. The street lamps employ OSRAM Opto Semiconductors’ Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs as the light source, of which is characterized by its 60,000 hours long life, achieving significant savings in energy cost and environment-friendliness.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) announce that U.S. participants in the Cree LED City® program will join forces with the DOE Municipal Solid-State Street Lighting Consortium (Consortium). Mitsubishi has installed the first Diamond Vision OLED screen, over at Merck's new Material Research Center in Darmstadt, Germany. The display measures 3.84m by 2.3m with a 1280x768 resolution. It has 60 modules (each is 128x128), and weights a total of 480Kg(!). Merck will use the display as an information system for presentations and events.

At the beginning of 3Q 2010,LED packaging house Ledtech Electronics thought its low temperature light bars revenues had lowed 10% sequentially because of drop orders. But revenues for 4Q 2010 were planed to pick up as clients prepared for the demand during the summer of 2011.

The South Korean steel industry giant POSCO announced to participate in the LED Industry. The new venture's headquarters will be in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. The new company is comprise of POSCO ICT (63.3 percent), the IT and engineering arm of POSCO steel, POSCO Steel (16.7-percent) and Seoul Semiconductor (20 percent).And  POSCO ICT CEO Hur Nam-suk will have leadership responsibility for the venture.
