SCS replaced 44 MUSCO Metal Halide HID sports lights that used 2,300 watts each. SCS designed and installed 40 sports stadium rated - 900 watts each - LED lights replacing the existing MUSCO lights. SCS LED lights provide 3 times the foot candle measurements to the baseball diamond and all three outfield positions, using only 180,000 watts per game; a savings of 326,000 watts per game!

Cytocompatibility studies of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have been carried out on cell cultures for the first time at the Fraunhofer FEP to test how well OLEDs are tolerated by cells. The results offer promising prospects for the use of OLEDs in the medical field, such as in light therapy. The findings will be published in a white paper entitled “Preliminary cytocompatibility studies for encapsulated OLEDs” and likewise be presented at the 4th Industry Partners Day of the Fraunhofer FEP in Dresden on Sept. 28, 2016.

The COB LED market has witnessed rapid growth over the past few years. An apparent example is that COB LEDs are gaining higher penetration rate in high-end commercial lighting applications. Meanwhile, outdoor illumination market also finds COB LED packages’ growing penetration rate. Therefore, more and more manufacturers enter the COB LED market. Aside from international manufacturers that entered the market in the early stage, including Citizen, Sharp, Bridgelux and Luminus Devices, leading manufacturers like CREE, Lumileds and Nichia also tapped into the market of COB LEDs. The number of Chinese manufacturers that entered COB LED package market is even higher, including Sunpu Opto, Guangzhou LEDteen Optoelectronics Co., Shenzhen Crescent Optoelectronic Co. and Shenzhen Tongyifang Optoelectronic Technology co. Allegro MicroSystems announces two new adjustable linear current regulators for driving automotive LED arrays. Allegro’s AEC-Q100 qualifiedA6274 and A6284 devices include many new features designed to further enhance the existing family of Linear LED drivers. These new low-EMI ICs integrate an optional pre-regulator gate drive to dynamically and linearly control an external P-channel MOSFET, which extends the output power capability of a linear LED driver by moving most of the power losses to an external power FET.
