The U.S. Department of Energy's GATEWAY program has released a new report on a pilot installation of tunable-white LED systems at a senior-care facility in Sacramento, CA. The installation took place at the ACC Care Center and was conducted by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), which invited GATEWAY to document the performance of the new lighting systems. Two of the primary goals identified by SMUD and ACC were to learn more about how tunable-white lighting affects the sleep patterns, nighttime safety, and other behaviors of the residents; and to better equip the staff to provide excellent care by improving the quality of lighting relative to the incumbent system.

GlacialPower, a division of the LED technology manufacturer GlacialTech Inc, has today announced the launch of the GP-HS15P-42C and GP-HS15P-42CA, a new pair of LED Drivers that offer users a wide choice of dimming functions, a built-in DC output jack connector for easy installation and maintenance, and a rated power output of up to 14.7W suitable for LED lights from 26V to 42V. The supported input voltage range is 90 to 264VAC, providing off-the-shelf electrical compatibility with almost any location worldwide, and constant current mode is also supported.

Micro-LED is regarded as a promising next-generation display technology that is being quietly developed by major brand companies in various industries. Korea’s LED industry took off at a much later date than Japan or Taiwan, in fact it developed at around the same time as China, but has advanced at an accelerated rate. However, the country’s LED industry plummeted much sharply compared to Japan, China and Taiwan. The Korean LED industry development occurred in three phases the first was started by upstream LED manufacturers EE coined the “double E era”, followed by Samsung and LG’s entry during the peak of the Solid State Lighting (SSL) phase, followed by large scale withdraw from the market, in response to emerging Chinese LED industry.

Osram, a leading global lighting and technology company, has appointed Michael Flieger, 42, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Americas region. Flieger succeeds Grant Wright, who was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Osram’s Americas region in July 2015, and for the past year has maintained a dual role as CEO and CFO.
