TILS and LED Taiwan 2016 Bridging the Supply Chain and Showcasing Business Opportunities for Smart Lighting!

The 4-day Taiwan International Lighting Show and LED Taiwan 2016 held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center formally started today (April 13). The Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association jointly organized the Taiwan International Lighting Show (TILS). Meanwhile, TAITRA and SEMI Taiwan also joined forces for the third time to host LED Taiwan. These exhibits attracted a total of 238 exhibitors and companies from 9 countries and provided a total of 748 stalls, making it the largest and most professional exhibit in Taiwan for professional illumination technologies and applications. It is expected to attract 16,000 visitors, professionals, and potential buyers.

ANSI Publishes ANSI C78.374-2015 LED Package Specification Sheet for General Illumination Applications

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced that ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C78 published ANSI C78.374-2015 Light-Emitting Diode Package Specification Sheet for General Illumination Applications. The purpose of this new standard is to specify the standardized white light-emitting diode (LED) package specification sheet, or data reporting format, as the means of communication between LED package producers and users in general illumination applications. The minimum defined contents and format of the specification sheet are provided.

Hempstead Town to Save US $43M with LED Streetlights Replacement

As crews installed the 30,000th energy efficient L.E.D. (light emitting diode) streetlight fixture of a planned 50,000 units in Hempstead Town, Supervisor Anthony J. LEDinside Reports Global LED Market Posts First YoY Decline in 2015

The latest report from LEDinside, a division of TrendForce, finds the total value of the global LED market (include both visible and non-visible LED products) arrived at US$14.32 billion in 2015, representing YoY growth of -3%. The market witnessed its first annual decline in value last year mainly because of the price war among the LED manufacturers, with the ASPs of some mainstream LED packages suffering a drop of 40% or more compared with 2014. The rising U.S. dollar also resulted in falling revenues for many manufacturers.

Intelligent Light from Osram Slashes 65% Energy Bill for Volkswagen Parking Garage

One of the largest and most modern logistics centres in Europe is located at Baunatal near Kassel in Germany – the original parts centre for Volkswagen. More than 450,000 VW original components are dispatched from the location to seven domestic sales centres and 83 countries. As part of the "Think Blue. Factory." campaign, Volkswagen also aimed to set standards in terms of energy saving, and as a consequence it was decided to sustainably upgrade the company’s employee car park with 500 parking lots. Energy savings of 65% are now achieved with the new lighting installation from Osram based on innovative LED luminaires and intelligent light control. Thanks to electricity cost savings, the investment is also paid back within three years.
