Access Fixtures is expanding its line of parking garage lighting by adding products that utilize the latest lighting technologies and feature durable housings. The new luminaires use LG LED modules, Cree LEDs or Osram Sylvania induction components. Employing long life lighting components and options like dimming, step-down dimming, occupancy sensors, and photocells for daylight harvesting, these new luminaires effectively provide light and enhance safety throughout any parking garage while reducing energy use and maintenance costs. 

Panasonic System Communications Company of North America, a leader in delivering professional display and digital signage solutions, today announced several new additions to its industry-leading line of professional displays, including the TH-55LFV70 LED Video Wall Display, the TH-47LFX6N Outdoor LED display and an expanded LFE7 LED backlit Display Series. For the first time there is a compact laser multi-chip package. Osram Opto Semiconductors can pack up to 20 blue laser chips in the new PLPM4 450 module. Instead of taking the laborious approach and constructing a light source from individual laser diodes, it is now possible to reduce the complexity of laser projectors significantly. Developers also succeeded in doubling the optical output of the individual chips, with the result that the new laser module now offers an overall output of 50 W. This means that professional laser projectors can achieve a brightness level of more than 2000 lumen with only one component.

Taiwan’s LED Lighting Industry Alliance (TLLIA) has been the first association in the country with members from traditional lighting and LED industry, according to a CNA report. The Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute recently evaluated a newly constructed building at Siena College—Rosetti Hall, a 25,000 square foot, 3-story, contemporary brick building that includes classrooms, meeting rooms, and offices. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) awarded funding to change the lighting specification from the originally specified conventional fluorescent lighting to all light emitting diodes (LEDs), designed by Engineered Solutions of Clifton Park, N.Y., and to have the project evaluated as a DELTA demonstration project by LRC. Nippon Electric Glass Co. (NEG), reached an agreement with the Saint-Gobain Group on launching a joint venture to develop, manufacture and sell glass substrate to IEL (Internal Extraction Layer) for organic light emitting diode (OLED) lighting. 

In a randomized poll, over 200 business owners and managers were asked: "Do you believe there is sufficient standardization in the LED bulb industry (Energy Star, etc)?"
