Osram has agreed to sell its production site which mostly produces CFLs at the factory in Shaoxing, China, as part of its plan to save €1 billion (£864.5 billion) by 2015. ASP of TV Backlight LED Falls, Backlit LED Display Penetration Rate to Exceed 90% in 2013

According to LEDinside’s “Silver Member Report,” in 1Q13 LED price for monitor backlight application fell by approximately 4%-8%, whereas LED price for TV application dropped by 3%-9%. Affected by the price cut by Korean manufacturers, average price of high power LED for lighting applications fell by 6%-9% this quarter. With the price drop continuing, the total number of LED backlights applied to middle and large sized panels is expected to peak. LED backlight application has grown from 2012’s 70% to 92% in monitors, and from 70% to 90% in TVs.

TrendForce: Benefited From Outdoor Lighting Replacement Demand, Worldwide LED Outdoor Lighting Market Value Grows By 46% in 2013.

The latest market report published by LEDinside, a research division of TrendForce showed that LED outdoor lighting replacements will be popular worldwide from 2013 to 2015, with Asian countries including China, Japan, and Taiwan acting most aggressively. Promoted by the policy, the LED outdoor lighting market value will be up to 2,478 million USD in 2013, an annual growth over 46%. In other emerging countries such as Thailand, Russia, Latin America and Africa, considerable streetlight replacements will also be installed in 2014. According to LEDinside, a research division of Trendforce, investigation on the latest LED light bulb retail price showed that global LED light bulb retail price remained volatile in January 2013. The retail price of 40W equiv. LED lamps increased by 4% to USD19.4. Fewer new products were introduced in each region, and fluctuation in the price of original products increased. The average price of 60W equiv. LED lamp fell by 4.3% to USD29.6. Prices declined most significantly in the Japanese market.
