Osram Acquires IoT Specialist Digital Lumens

Osram has agreed to acquire Digital Lumens Inc., a U.S. company based in Boston, Massachusetts that specializes in industrial IoT solutions. Founded in 2008, Digital Lumens employs 65 people and in the last fiscal year generated sales in the mid-double-digit millions (USD). The Digital Lumens software platform can be used to run applications covering everything from intelligent lighting control, energy use, and security systems to the measurement of environmental parameters such as air quality. The cloud-based platform is compatible with components and hardware of other manufacturers. Digital Lumens has built a strong customer base for industrial IoT solutions, with more than 2,500 installations.

Osram's Apollon Creates Uniform Light Windows in Rooms

Apollon from Osram is a diverse, VDU-compliant (UGR19) LED luminaire for electrical contractors who place importance on both an intelligent light concept and many extras. The luminaires have the appearance of homogeneous 'windows of light' that can be grouped together to create light ceilings. Luminous flux was increased by 15% to 4,000 lumens compared to its predecessor model. The luminaire is therefore an efficient and economical replacement not only for 3-lamp but even for 4-lamp 4x18W (T8) and 4x14W (T5) louvre luminaires.

Osram Invests in LiDAR Expert LeddarTech Inc.

Osram has acquired a strategic 25.1 percent share in LeddarTech Inc., a Canadian company that develops a proprietary LiDAR technology integrated into semiconductors and sensor modules for self-driving cars and driver-assistance systems. LeddarTech specializes in solid-state LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) systems that use infrared light to monitor the area around them, and its advanced optical sensing technology is highly complementary with Osram’s semiconductor products. The two companies already work together and Osram has now made an investment in LeddarTech in the mid double-digit million euros.
