Osram to Release Infrared Ostar Lighting LEDs with Compact, Powerful and Efficient Radiance

The new Infrared Ostar Lighting LED from Osram Opto Semiconductors provides 3.5 W of optical output power at 1A with six powerful thin-film chips and a hemispherical. The beam angle and radiant intensity can be varied with standard secondary optics which are readily available on the market. The hexagonal honeycomb shape of this high-power component enables multiple IR LEDs to be combined to form a large space-saving matrix so that the output power can be increased many times.

Mouser Electronics Signs Distribution Agreement with OSRAM

Mouser Electronics,  Inc., an electronic component distributor known for its rapid introduction of the newest products, announced on Tuesday to have signed an agreement with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors to distribute the lighting, sensor, and visualization sectors, adding to its existing portfolio of OSRAM’s high-powered, mid-powered, and standard LEDs as well as infrared and sensor products.

Osram Sylvania Opens Clean Lab LED center

Osram Sylvania has opened an expanded, multi-million dollar Clean Lab LED center on April 8 that is dedicated to solid-state lighting research in Beverly, Massachusetts. Osram received $2M award in US DOE Solid State Lighting Research and Development Program last month. And the award will allow the company to fund an LED replacement for a halogen MR-16 spotlight and research on phosphors for white LEDs.

South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co. is reportedly setting up a 50-50 joint venture with its affiliate Samsung Electro-Mechanics to jointly produce LEDs. It’s disclosed the veture is tentatively named Samsung LED. LEDs are known to have many advantages to traditional light sources, such as low energy consumption, longer lifetime, which are increasingly used in products from mobile phones to flat-screen televisions.
