Osram Launches CoB LED for Compact Spotlight Applications

For the first time, Osram is offering a chip-on-board LED, the Soleriq P 9, which is suitable for compact powerful spotlights such as the ones used in retail outlets and museums. The latest member of the Osram Soleriq family produces 2000 lumen from a surface with a diameter of only nine millimeters. Compared with the existing Soleriq S 13, that is twice as much light from an area half the size. Just one of the new light emitting diodes is enough to replace a 35 W HID lamp for spotlighting.

Osram Releases LED Power Packs for Projectors

Osram Opto Semiconductors is now launching two new high-power versions of the Osram Ostar Projection for projectors with a brightness of up to 1700 lumen. Thanks to their optimized product design they offer very high luminous flux from the available chip surface. Between 1000 and 8300 lumen can be produced depending on the color and the LED version. An antireflex coated glass cover instead of the usual lens, together with external optics, ensures that the light is very well bundled. The new LEDs are therefore ideally matched to the efficient lighting from various additional optics.

Osram Reports LED Revenue Share Up to 29% of Total Revenue in 2013

Osram has fully achieved and partially even exceeded its targets for the fiscal year that ended in September 2013. Revenue rose two percent year over year on a comparable basis – meaning excluding portfolio and currency effects – to almost €5.3 billion (US$ 7.93 billion), with a rising dynamic in the final quarter. The revenue share of LED-based products and solutions increased from around 25 percent in fiscal 2012 to 29 percent in the past year.

More than 10,000 high-power LED luminaires from the Osram subsidiary Traxon Technologies have transformed Baku's new landmark, the three Flame Towers, into gigantic display screens. Inspired by the Flame Towers, the slogan of the 57th Eurovision Song Contest in the capital of Azerbaijan was "Light your Fire!" The European Broadcasting Union, which mounted the song contest, was also relying on the know-how of Osram: using special solutions, the company will be providing spectacular lighting effects.
