Dow Electronic Materials, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company has begun to set up a new metalorganic precursor manufacturing plant in Cheonan, Korea, as a part of a multi-phase plan announced in June 2010 to expand TrimethylGallium (TMG) production capacity to meet the surging global demand for the material in the LED and related electronics markets. It is expected to be operational in early 2011.And benefiting from the multi-phase plan, total additional capacity is expected to be 60 metric tons per year.

PPL Electric Utilities and Allentown, Pennsylvania were partnering on the project，which were to install LED-based street lights in a 53-fixture retrofit ,in order to save enough electricity to power 1.5 to 2.5 homes.
