ZMD AG has introduced ZLED7012 and ZLED7022, the second wave of its ZLED family of LED control solutions, featuring two low-voltage ICs available for battery-powered handheld devices. Both of the two LED ICs, suit for the ultra-small UTQFN package (2x2mm), and feature low-noise, constant-frequency charge pump DC-DC converters that can drive up to four or six strings of LEDs, respectively. Only three external components are required.

Taiwan LED manufacturer Epistar has designed a High-Voltage (HV) chip that enables the cold white LED to reach 162 lm/W. The new HV-LED features less power consumption and higher wall plug efficiency because of its robust new high voltage chip design. The flexibility of voltage and current adjustment of HV-LED can simplify the LED package and circuit design so that its overall efficiency is enhanced.

Recently, Lighting manufacturer Philips and LED lamp maker Lemnis Lighting signed a license agreement. On the basis of the agreement, Lemnis would join Philips licensing program for LED-based luminaries and retrofit bulbs. And Philips would obtain access to the LED-lamp architecture and control patents of Lemnis.

NXP Semiconductors N.V. has promoted two collections of automotive LED driver ICs ASL1010NTK and ASL1010PHN, designed for vehicle LED headlights and tail lights. According to NXP, automotive LEDs have used complex, relatively expensive driver ICs made for generic Solid State Lighting applications that lack many of the critical functions needed for automotive applications.

Lumiotec announced that they will begin mass production of OLED Lighting panels in January 2011. The production capacity will be around 60,000 panels a year, and the company will offer panels in five different shapes (two squares and three rectangular) and in two different colors: lamp (3000K) and natural white (5000K). Selling 60,000 panels a year means that most of these will go into commercial lamps, and not just 'sample designs'.

America Tampa, Florida based LED lighting maker LEDnovation has recently launched a line of MR16 lamps for use in standard low voltage lighting applications and previously brought to market A19 or "Edison" type LED replacement lamps optimized for use in downlights and other semi-enclosed directional fixtures.   The new lamp has been both electronically and optically optimized to eliminate the scalloping, rings and other optical variations that are often seen in traditional reflector lamps.
