LSG and BHP Energy jointly to Provide DC-powered LED Street Lights for Mexican Superhighway

Lighting Science Group’s Prolific DC LED street lights will soon light up Mexico City's newly constructed "Viaducto Bicentenario" elevated superhighway, which runs 23 kilometers from Lomas Verdes to Tepotzotlan. BHP Energy Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V. is LSG's exclusive representative in Mexico. Gerstl Consultores selected BHP Energy Mexico to provide LED-based street lights to work with Gerstl Consultatores' solar power systems. LSG and BHP Energy Mexico are jointly announcing the nearly completed project.

Neo-Neon Announces to Open 2,000 LED Lighting Shops throughout Mainland China

The Chinese decorative lighting manufacturer Neo-Neon LED Lighting International Ltd. will open 2,000 LED lighting fixtures shops in three to five years throughout mainland China, which is estimated an investment of 500 million Chinese yuan (US$73 million). B.Y. Fan, the company’s chairman, noted that the company opened its first retail shop in Hong Kong early this year and will open a store in Taipei next year.

Dow Chemical expands LED material production and will build a plant in S. Korea

The top U.S. chemicals manufacturer Dow Chemical Co. will invest US$45 million to build a plant producing key electronic materials - LED and display panel components in South Korea and the facility will be located in the city of Cheonan, 92 kilometers south of Seoul. Dow Chemical has signed a memorandum of understanding with the governments of South Chungcheong Province and the city of Cheonan. Dow notes that construction for the plant will begin in October and would be completed in 2015.

GAM resumes replacing the traffic lights heads with LED system signs

Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) will install LED system signs and requests a new tender with a cost of JOD 100.000, to import new LED traffic lights, said by the Director of Traffic Operations Department, Eng. Khaled Haddadeen. He noted that GAM has already tested the traffic lights on Al Rabiah sign (the intersection of Mecca Street and Saad Ibn Abi Waqqas Street, and 60~70% of the Capital's traffic lights, about 125 light signs, have already been replaced.

LG Display to show 31-inch OLED TV and 72-inch 3D LED TV at IFA show

LG Display of Korea will show off a 31-inch OLED TV at the IFA show. LGD said the TV is the biggest of its type. LGD has not unveiled other details on the set, including resolution, thickness or price. Also on display at the event will be LG's 72-inch 3D LED TV and what is being described as the thinnest LCD TV, at just about 0.28 inches.

American display manufacturer ViewSonic has released its newest display, the VX2250wm-LED, a 22-inch LED backlight display and announced that all of its PC displays will feature LED technology by early 2011. LCD monitors that use LED backlighting use about 40 percent less energy than displays that use CCFL. Transit company saves energy by switching to LumaSmart LED Wallpacks

Northern Border In-Transit, LLC (NBIT) located in Detroit, Michigan, has selected Lumasmart to upgrade its exterior lighting with LED wallpacks. LumaSmart’s LED Wallpack, which draws 65 watts of electricity, will replace 400 watt High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights that currently draw 465 watts with ballasts factored in – an 85% savings in energy.

Located at the base of the Teton Mountains, the Jackson Hole Airport needed a superior lighting solution, which now has installed Albeo Technologies’s LED Lighting. Albeo's C-Series LED high bay used in Jackson Hole's Silver LEED rated airport. Albeo’s 177 Watt high-bay fixture with approximately 14,000 lumen output per fixture and a 4200K color temperature was used for the project.
