The Lighting Association (LA) is Europe's largest association for the industry. In 2010 LA Member, Low Energy Designs kindly donated five SunBURST™ LED luminaires, ideal for our floodlighting needs. Enfis Group plc has secured the contract to supply LED arrays and drivers for the NBA Stadium under construction in Guangzhou, China for this November’s Asian games. Philips Lumileds announced the release of two new LUXEON Rebel LEDs with correlated color temperatures (CCTs) of 2700K and 3000K that expand the company’s portfolio for indoor illumination applications in hotels, shops, restaurants, and homes. The new emitters use Philips' latest thin film flip chip (TFFC) and proprietary Lumiramic phosphor technologies. At the high operating temperatures found in applications like recessed lamps, the new emitters set efficacy benchmarks.

The University of California, Berkeley, USA has ordered one 4-inch Black Magic deposition system from AIXTRON AG. The Black Magic system was selected for its unique ability to grow both SiGe nanowires and CNTs uniformly, rapidly and repeatably, and will be installed in the Laboratory for Nano Materials & Electronics by the local AIXTRON support team in the first half of 2010.

It is reported that Optogan Group of Finland has acquired the industrial facility of CJSC Elcoteq in St. Petersburg, Russia. CJSC Elcoteq is a subsidiary of Elcoteq SE of Russia. Elcoteq started the production of electronic devices and telecom equipment on its plant in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2006. Total area of the fab is 15 500 m2, and its production area is over 5 000 m2.

The new 'DoubleDome' series from Sharp incorporates three white light SMD LEDs with a colour rendering index (CRI) of 85. A silicone globe top applied directly on the phosphorous, with lens-like moulding, facilitates highly efficient light extraction. Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), today introduced a complete LED lighting driver reference board in collaboration with Lemnis Lighting to help address three important issues: cost, dimming and efficacy. The TPS92010 LED-lamp Reference Board applies TI’s semiconductor technology for general LED lighting and Lemnis Lighting’s expertise in dimmable lighting applications. The board can help speed adoption of energy-saving retrofit LED light bulbs.

Customers and visitors didn't notice the change. Owner Kristine is very happy with the 88% reduction in energy cost. The boutique uses 4 aircos to dissipate all heat, which costed a lot of extra money. In a second phase 27 (300 watt)halogen floods will be replaced with 70 watt PAS-NGL-FL70A WW Compact floodlights.
