AIXTRON AG has announced a new order for a Black Magic Plasma Enhanced CVD (PECVD) system from Graphenea SL, a start-up company based within the facilities of nanoGUNE in San Sebastian city, in the Basque region of Spain.  Graphenea’s focus is in developing graphene-based process technology for electronic devices.

According to a recent statement from Philips’ subsidiary Assembleon, Philips has agree to sell 80 percent of Assembleon to independent private equity firm H2 Equity Partners.

Philips cooperates with the Rijkswaterstaat (RWS - the Dutch highway authority), contractors Gebroeders Van der Lee and consultants Spectrum, has installed LED lighting along a 7km-length of the A44, one of the busy highways of Amsterdam. The installation will be officially operated in February.

Soitec and Sumitomo Electric Industries (SEI) has joined force to develop engineered gallium nitride (GaN) substrates. UK-based LED lighting manufacturer PhotonStar LED Ltd will take over Enfis Group plc, which is a developer of LED arrays and drivers for lighting and industrial applications and was listed on the AIM stock exchange in March 2007. With the shareholder’s agreement, Enfis will be named PhotonStar LED Group plc and in late December will be list on the AIM stock exchange again.

AIXTRON AG today announced a new order for MOCVD reactors from LED power chip expert and existing customer Aqualite Co. Ltd. The order comprises six CRIUS 31x2-inch configuration deposition systems. The China based company placed the order during the second quarter of 2010 and after delivery of the systems in the current quarter, they will be used for high-power LED production.

Cooper Lighting and Safety has provided 65 RXD1 LED downlights to the Dominion Centre, a former theatre that is now used as a place of worship, in Wood Green, London. The 1930-built cinema and theatre building retains 12 large 400W metal-halide house lights recessed into the ornate plasterwork. The officials of the centre have decided to supplement these main house lights by additional luminaires during a recent renovation scheme.

Osram Sylvania has announced the launch of the good selling A-Line Ultra 12-watt LED bulb, available at Lowe’s Home Improvement. The A-Line 12-watt LED bulb features 80 percent less energy than its incandescent ancestor and lasts 25 times longer. Like Osram Sylvania’s other LED bulbs–the MR16, PAR20, PAR30, PAR38 and G25 types–the Ultra A-Line is dimmable and mercury-free.

IXYS Corporation has introduced an innovative inductor-less, high efficiency 1.2 A WLED driver, LDS8991, which is ideal for HB LED photoflash and torch for digital cameras, video cameras and smart phone. Osram Sylvania has released a  piece of news that home improvement store Lowes will unseat the 60-watt incandescent bulbs with 12 watts Sylvania's general-purpose LED bulb. According to Osram Sylvania, the Ultra A-Line bulb will be available online in November and in all Lowe's stores by the second quarter of 2011. The price will $39.98, while Home Depot is selling a 60-watt replacement LED from Philips at the price of $39.97.

The order comprises several AIX 2600G3 IC in a 49x2-inch wafer configuration and a double digit number of AIX 2800G4-R 60x2-inch configuration deposition systems. After delivery of the systems between the fourth quarter 2010 and the second quarter of 2011, they will be used for red-orange-yellow (ROY) high brightness LED production.
