After the EU, the US, Australia and others have imposed restrictions to phase out incandescent light bulbs, it’s reported that China is in the process of making the roadmap for banning the use of these bulbs. The restriction is expected to be unveiled in March.
According to Wang Jinsui, director general of China Illuminating Engineering Society, said in China Business News, "The National Development and Reform Commission has been drafting the map."

Recently, it’s reportedly Yangzhou of Jiangsu Province would end procurement subsidization for MOCVD equipment in July of 2011. Epitaxial wafer plants registered after the date would no longer receive the subsidy of CNY10 million (US$1.5 million) per MOCVD machine.
Yangzhou city officials indicated that Yangzhou currently had 20,000 LED street lamps and would rise to 30,000 units in April of 2011. The city government was looking to adjust the 33% subsidy for LED street lamp installation cost.

Chinese venture capital firm ,WI Harper Group, announced that SemiLEDs made its 5.3 million shares of initial public offering on the Nasdaq Global Market exchange with the ticker symbol of LEDS.
SemiLEDs’ initial public offering was priced at $17 each, and increased 52% in value on opening day. SemiLEDs posted a profit of $10.8 million for the year ending August 31, 2010 based on $35.8 million in revenue.

GT Solar has acquired its first two orders totaling more than $84 million for sapphire crystallization systems from Jiangsu Jixing New Material Co., Ltd and Jiujiang Sapphire Tech Co., Ltd.
Total annual production capacity of the two orders is approximately eight million two-inch equivalents (TIE) of sapphire substrates.
The two orders represent GT Solar's entry into the LED equipment market, which GT Solar stated it would pursue when it announced its acquisition of Crystal Systems in July of 2010.
