Osram Lighting Solutions has drawn up a cross-location LED lighting concept for Havi Logistics. The basis for this was pan-European energy audits previously carried out by Osram in the European distribution centers of Havi Logistics. Following lighting refurbishment, up to 80% in energy costs are now being saved thanks to efficient LED technology and intelligent light management in the cold storage centers.

Revolution Lighting Technologies, a leader in advanced LED lighting technology solutions, today announced the completion of an LED retrofit project with Lehman College, the Bronx-based senior college of the City University of New York. The work, facilitated by Revolution Lighting Technologies operating division Tri-State LED, involved the installation of Revolution Lighting Technologies T8 LED tubes to increase energy efficiency and decrease utilities costs across campus. The multi-phase program has installed LED tubes, which are 60% more efficient than fluorescent lighting, to achieve an average payback of only 2.5 years.

This Saturday, the non-profit arts organization, ILLUMINATE, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and world-renowned artist Leo Villareal will officially re-light The Bay Lights, an iconic LED lighting installation on the San Francisco Bay Bridge, using equipment developed by Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), the global leader in lighting. The Middle Ring Expressway, located at Suzhou Hi-Tech Zone has transformed into the most brilliantly luminated municipal road in Suzhou city. With a total investment of RMB 22 billion, the roadway was equipped with around 2,000 sets of OSRAM OLUX™ LED Spot H with 4000K color temperature. In addition, around 10,000 sets of OSRAM XTRA Liner DC were used to achieve different lighting effects by changing the high powered LEDs. The seamless lighting effects are operated by e:cue control systems, including Butler S2, LCE 2 and RDM Isolater that control around 10,000 sets of OSRAM XTRA Liner LEDs, which produce identical colors simultaneously.

Kuehne + Nagel, one of the world’s leading global logistic providers has recently completed the construction of a build-to-suit centre in Singapore. The new 46,000sqm state-of-the-art facility, which will be one of its largest outside Europe, also has a cold storage zone to manage temperature-sensitive goods.

Royal Philips, the global leader in lighting, today announced the unveiling of a first-of-its-kind, large-scale lighting installation at a major university campus that leverages Power over Ethernet (PoE) as part of the recently opened Watt Family Innovation Center at Clemson University. As a founding innovation partner of the center, Philips implemented a PoE-based indoor lighting system combined with LED lighting to provide flexible work spaces that encourage collaboration between faculty and students, optimize space management in the facility, and improve energy efficiency. This new lighting solution will deliver up to 70 percent in energy savings compared to similar buildings using conventional lighting.

In the newly constructed Schmuttertal secondary school in Diedorf Germany, micro sun shielding louvres from the Osram subsidiary Siteco create natural lighting in the classroom buildings, auditorium and sports hall. The school benefits in several ways – in addition to energy savings, the daylight system also supports the school’s architectural and educational concept.

The National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing has staged Aida with the lighting designer Vinicio Cheli and a whole group of Italian professionals known worldwide: stage designer Ezio Frigerio, director Francesco Micheli, costume designer Francia Squarciapino, and Sergio Metalli, who dealt with the video projections. Cheli was asked to design the lighting for Verdi's opera.

Originally established in 1871, First Baptist Orlando has grown into a congregation of over 16,000 members who worship in a sanctuary with approximately 5,500 seats. When the church recently underwent a renovation, lighting designer Anthony Rush was asked to identify the ideal lighting fixtures that could offer the weekly worship services and annual special productions alike the most versatile lighting rig possible. Light Walk’ is a project designed for the UNESCO 2015 International Year of Light Festival. Located in the passages leading into the Carl Zeiss eG, it is an interactive light installation which aims to encourage the use of multiple passages by displaying the data of the people’s presence from each passage around the courtyard into the main passage, containing the visualization. By placing sensors in each of the walkways, the movement of the user is tracked and then shown as a ‘data ghost’ of light through a 3D light matrix.

A state-of-the-art, high-resolution LED video wall manufactured and installed by S|N|A was recently unveiled at 350 Mission Street in San Francisco as part of a digital art show organized by Kilroy Realty Corporation.

THE CHALLENGE In the heart of Taipei and cordoned off from all visitors, stood an abandoned factory that a century ago was a wine-producing facility. Rediscovered in 1997, the Huashan 1914 Creative Park was one of the least known and most well-preserved structures in Taiwan. Half a century later, this space has been partially restored and is home to community arts events and temporary pop-up shops.

With over 300 exhibitors from different lighting companies across the world, Light Middle East is the regional premier event which was held in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre on 6-8 October 2015. The trade fair offered a platform for the lighting professionals, including manufacturer, architects, engineers and designers, to showcase their innovative lighting solutions, to explore business opportunities and to gain inspiration for their future projects and designs.
